IMPROVED CSA SCORES

CSA scores are important since higher scores equal higher premiums.  So how can you go about improving them?  Here are six tips:

  1. Hire using a pre-employment screening program.  By having a good hiring process to help you make smart hiring decisions, you can lower your crash rate by 8% and driver out-of-service rates by 17%, according the FMCSA data.
  2. Implement dual-facing dashcams.  Seatbelt violations and following too close raise a driver’s accident risk.  Dual-facing dashcams address both.
  3. Perform proactive maintenance. During roadside inspections, the most common violations are for lights (30%) and tires (10%).  Pre and post-trip inspections can alert drivers to minor maintenance issues before they turn into violations.
  4. Dispute FMCSA mistakes.  Everyone makes mistakes now and then – including the FMCSA.  Regularly check your CSA score and dispute incorrect violations.
  5. Use a weigh station bypass solution.  Weigh station bypass is smart for a myriad of reasons, one of which is this:  fewer weigh station pull-ins mean fewer inspections and potentially fewer violations.
  6. Choose the right electronic logging device (ELD). Not all ELDs are the same.  Choose one that is easy for drivers to use and includes document management.  Most even come with packages for dashcams.  Click here to get a free ELD with Motive:  go.gomotive.com/RedOx-Insurance-Agency.html?utm_source=Keep+Truckin
